We will regularly choose a new endangered species to support. Please give generously to them.

You know they'd do the same for us if they could. This week it's the turn of...

Contrary to what you might believe the spectacled bear doesn't actually wear spectacles. We presume that this is because these cuddly South American mammals have either opted for contact lenses or gone in for laser surgery, which to be honest I'm still very wary of.

Spectacled bears are robust, with a short and muscular neck, short but strong legs, each with five toes armed with curved claws up to two inches in length. As with all bears, spectacled bears walk on the soles of their feet (also known as plantigrades) and have longer front than rear legs, making them excellent climbers.

Deforestation has decimated the numbers of South America's only species of bear. Althought their population numbers is currently unknown, habitat loss is believed to have lead to inbreeding in certain areas as evidenced by large number of banjos being strewn about the forest.

You needn't worry about the money raised going missing. Everyone who works on this website is utterly committed to the preservation of our bretheren endangered species and, quite frankly, are doing more than well enough through their day jobs.
